Mission

The mission of the Department of Chemical Engineering is to cultivate an environment through teaching, research, and service, that fosters the technical, critical thinking, and communication skills necessary for student and faculty to contribute to the engineering profession and to the well-being of society.

Program Educational Objectives

The department has the following educational objectives targeted toward its constituencies. These objectives describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve.

  • Students will be able to analyze problems, design experiments, obtain solutions, evaluate information, and communicate results both individually and as part of a team.
  • The department will help students recognize the need for a broad education outside engineering and the importance of life-long learning
  • The department will work closely with industry to ensure that students upon graduation are educated in fundamental and current issues in the Chemical Engineering profession and are prepared to use this education to improve society.
  • The department will provide a learning environment that fosters honesty, integrity and a strong engineering and work ethic.
