Email overview
This is completly dependent on what you email addresses domain is, everyone at the U has a @utah.edu address, many also have an @eng.utah.edu or a @che.utah.edu address. Look at the right section depending on what email address you want to use. Also it depends what client you are using, we recommend Mozilla Thunderbird its free and easy to use.
Requirements
- You must know what your email username/password is. The department does not run its own email server, we cannot reset accounts/passwords. We will point you in the right direction however
WebMail
You don't want to mess with configuring clients or you just want to check/send an email quickly
- if your email address ends with a @eng.utah.edu click here
- if your email address ends with a @utah.edu click here

Configure MS Outlook 2007
- If you use Outlook there is a third way to configure your email 'if' you are using the campus email system. You can configure it to connect to a exchange system that will be covered later.
- Select yes to configure an email address
| Error creating thumbnail: convert: unable to open image `/var/www/localhost/htdocs/ChE-Joomla/resources/supportwiki/images/4/45/Outlook_Config-1.gif': No such file or directory. convert: missing an image filename `/var/www/localhost/htdocs/ChE-Joomla/resources/supportwiki/images/thumb/4/45/Outlook_Config-1.gif/30px-Outlook_Config-1.gif'. |
- Fill out the form with your CIS information; if you don't know your password call 581-4000
- Outlook 2007 auto detects itself for all its settings, it configured mine as a POP account
- If you want to configure it as an IMAP or exchange client you will have to place a check mark in "Manually configure server settings or additional server types"
- The exchange options will be covered in another article, this guide is a designed to be a quick setup guide.
- This worked for both Umail and the CADE lab. But the CADE lab was dropped down into an unencrypted connection
