SMS Overview

Basic setup of the MS SMS services for the CHE network.

Installation

Virtual server

SQL 2005

  • Install IIS & BITS
  • Services Installed
    • SQL Server Database
    • Analysis
    • Reporting
    • Notification
    • Integration
  • Default Instance
  • Generate domain account for sql to launch service as


SMS 2003

  • Install as Primary site
  • SMS Site information 
      Site Code: 001
      CHE-SMSPrimary
      <DOMAIN>
  • Integrate into Windows Authentication
  • Manually create database (SMS)
  • Database name
  • Database Path on server
  • Extend AD Scheme
  • Advanced Security
  • After initial install grab the SMS 2003 Service Pack 2 Patch:

  • On SMS Disk #2
    • Install Inventory Tool
