The State of Utah’s Office of Energy Development (OED) has a paid internship opportunity for an individual seeking exposure in the many aspects of energy development. OED’s mission is to provide leadership in the balanced development of all of Utah’s energy resources including conventional, alternative, renewable energy and energy efficiency. The specific responsibilities for this internship include compiling a statewide greenhouse gas inventory, preparing for the Governor’s Energy Development Summit and assisting staff with administrative tasks associated with the Governor’s Energy Task Force, Energy Coordinating Council, Energy Working Group and general work to keep the office running smoothly. Candidates must be proficient in working with spreadsheets, have excellent research and writing skills, know how to prioritize tasks and manage their time well. Previous experience in emissions quantification, knowledge of energy generation and familiarity with diverse industrial processes is helpful but not required.
The position is for approximately 20 hours per week and the schedule is flexible. Compensation is $10/hr and the selected candidate will have opportunities to meet decision makers in energy development companies, state legislators, tour energy sites, and learn about new energy related technologies. The position is expected to last from January through May of 2001.
