Neil R. Mitchell Scholarship

The department is grateful to the wife of Neil R. Mitchell who recently established a scholarship in
his honor. The scholarship will be awarded Fall 2012. Mr. Mitchell passed away on October 8, 2011.
He received his BS degree in Chemical Engineering in 1960 and a law degree from the University of
Michigan. As stated by his wife: “He strongly believed in higher education. His interest in chemistry, the
law, international affairs and the French language remained with him all his life. He will be remembered
for his authenticity, strength of character, goodness, humor and intelligence.”
