Given the measured residence time distribution for a real glass lined reactor Die given in the attached data. The data was taken with the following operating parameters:

 

Run Number 17L-200

Impeller RPM = 200

Volume of Tank =V= 17±0.02 L.

Flow Rate =Q = 7.571±0.095L/min

 

Determine the resultant conversion for second order irreversible reaction for macromixing and micromixing models.

 

Compare these results to those for an ideal CSTR with 1) the same mean residence time as the measured residence time distribution and 2) the residence time given by V/Q.

 

Diagnose the mixing problem in this reactor and suggest a reactor model which is better suited to the observed residence time distribution. Calculate the conversion for this model reactor.
