Congratulations to University of Utah chemical engineering undergraduate academic advisor Sidney Cushing, who was named one of the recipients of this year’s NACADA Excellence in Advising Award for Region 10.

She is one of four winners in the category of Primary Role Advisor Certificate of Merit and the only academic advisor from the U to receive the award in 2023.

The NACADA is an association of professional advisors, counselors, faculty, administrators, and students working in higher education to enhance the educational development of students, according to the association.

Cushing (pictured, right) graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s in social work and a master’s degree in public health. She first joined the U in 2016 as a peer advisor in the Academic Advising Center and became an academic advisor in 2018. She joined the U’s Department of Chemical Engineering as an academic advisor in 2022. She also was an advisor for the Department of Economics.
