Instructions & Requirements

The Chemical Engineering Department checks and enforces prerequisites for ALL Chemical Engineering courses. In some circumstances, the prerequisite-checking software does not recognize transfer courses or test scores (such as AP or ACT scores) as satisfying requirements. Students who have met the prerequisites with coursework or exam scores which the system does not recognize, as well as students who do not meet the prerequisites for a course must submit a class permission code request.
The following restrictions apply:

  • Requests are due one week prior to the first day of class. Timely responses to requests received after that date cannot be guaranteed.
  • If a student is missing a prerequisite (either a specific course or major status), their request will be considered by the Chemical Engineering Department’s Undergraduate Committee. The Undergraduate Committee will notify the student of their decision. Acceptance into the desired class is not guaranteed.

Please make sure your information is correct and complete before sending this request! Within 10 business days after completing the form and hitting the “Submit Request” button, you will receive a follow-up email from the ChemE department on approval or disapproval. *Please check your junk mail folder. If you have further questions, you can contact the ChemE Undergraduate Advisor at cheundergrad@utah.edu  after filling out the form.
